Cross-threaded transmission pan bolt

Cross-threaded transmission pan bolt
Hey guys! Was changing the transmission fluid today (2005 Edge 3.0 rwd, automatic). I cross-threaded one of the bolts at the back of the pan, along the rear edge between the corners (not at the corners - it's one of two in the middle). I started it hand-tight, and then used a rachet to tighten it, which was obviously a mistake on this one, and I was wondering if there is anything I could do, or any suggestions? It won't tighten, and isn't flush with the pan.
Any suggestions or corrections welcome! Thanks for your time.

If it just striped when all the way in then put a washer or two on the bolt so it will hold pan when snug
Only fix is to re-tap the hole, may need to go a size larger if threads in hole are completely stripped
Or use an insert
Torque specs on pan bolts are 100 INCH pounds, so about 8ft/lb which is "snug" at most, not "tight", lol
There is no "pressure" inside the pan, just fluid sloshing around and gravity, so snug is fine
