Not an easy added on
Yes, you need the button set but also the clockspring wiring under the steering wheel so buttons stay connected when you turn the steering wheel.
Then the wiring harness for the cruise control that runs from steering wheel to engine bay.
In the engine bay is the Servo unit, it has the "brains" and the vacuum operated throttle cable so cruise can hold speed
You also need to hook to power, speed sensor and brake lights(cuts off cruise)
And if Manual trans you need to splice into Clutch switch(cuts off cruise)
You will get most of this from wrecking yard but not sure of compatible years, wrecking yard may know.
3rd party cruise would probably be easier since it would have instructions with it

yea 3rd party would probably be easier. I added it to my s10 using an on off switch and 2 momentary on pushbuttons on the dashboard vs wiring in a new turn signal stalk. Looks like rangers use a voltage input to tell the cruise computer what to do for coast, resume, etc instead of +12v momentarily like GM. Wiring diagram does give the ohms of resistance for each switch so its doable but it would be a royal pain.
My vote is 3rd party setup.
