Hi, I have a 96 2.3 ranger with a 3.73 open diff. I was wondering can you take a rear lSD out of a 4x4 and put it in a 2x4. thanks

axle ring gear must be the same diameter ETC: 7.5 or 8.8

Yes, if you swap the whole rear axle then 7.5" or 8.8" won't matter.

If you are just changing the ring AND pinion then it would matter

i would personally just swap out the 7.5 to the 8.8

your engine and transmission will thank you
