dinger keeps dinging

Just bought a '99 Ranger for my boy. It's a supercab 4x4. Every time we start it up, a dinger will ding for a few times, stop for about 5-10 seconds then do it again. It will persist to do this for about a minute and a half, then stop. It has occasionally started up again on a longer drive and quit in the same manner. We've tried putting on our seatbelts to no avail. It's an XLT with power windows and locks. Any ideas?

Just an update. I took it to the dealer and they said it was the airbag warning buzzer. I don't seem to have a passenger side airbag. Not sure about the driver's side. I need to see if it has impact sensors. Does anybody know where these are located. I noticed there are a couple of connections behind the bumper with nothing hooked to them. Thought they may be for fog lamps.

Have you researched the vehicle and determined if it has been in an accident before you got it ?
Might be good to find out and see, maybe one of the reasons it was sold.

But that said, if all else is running OK and you can live without the alarm do a DDP, “Dinger Disconnect Procedure”… LoL, just disconnect it.

I had a alarm problem in my ’95 and it was the door switch, my 03 started dinging with the door closed and it was the door switch but it was fixed with a little spray on the door latch.

Not saying your problem is the Door Sw just throwing out ideas.

The truck had a clean carfax, but was aware of some previous damage. It is definitely the air bag. Looks like they removed the airbag light in the dash.

Sounds funny, you might go back to the seller and inquire.

Might be more of a problem than you think.

look under the steering wheel, maybe they blew the bags in the accident and just didn't put them back in.
