Does the DOHC 2.3 have balance shaft(s)?

I recently bought my first Ranger, a 2002 in really nice shape. It has the 2.3 4-cyl, which seems to be running perfectly. There is kind of a resonance that I can feel and hear at about 2,000 rpm. It's not too bad but the last 4 cylinder car I owned had balance shafts and was totally smooth under all conditions.

Let me know if you find anything out about this. I have the same issue on my '99 2.5L.
