If you have given the latches a healthy dose of WD-40 and it is still doing it, could be and actual defective switch -=OR=- not adjusted properly. I have never had an issue with mine, but have seen threads like this on several forums... all say pretty much the same. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, mhoward. Yes, in doing a lot of research this morning after my post, it seems it just might be the actual switch. In the "old" days the switch was a simple switch mounted in the body. Easily accessible. The one in the Ranger is attached to the lock inside the door requiring the door panel to be removed. I guess that is my next step. Again, thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I remember the old days when things were MUCH simpler (I'm 61). Removing the door panel isn't hard. Four screws (two behind the door pull, one in the lower rear corner and another behind the door panel pull plate). Slide it up off the catches and you are good. Now getting to the switch from there is probably a different story...

Well, I have two years on you, so we are in the same ballpark. I hate working inside those tight door spaces, but it seems to be the only option. Thanks for the additional info. I have her truck next weekend to put new brake shoes on the rear, new tailgate latch, and this door ajar problem. If I could only get the boyfriend away from video games, maybe I would not have to do this stuff anymore. (smile)

Well, I have soaked the passenger door lock mechanism with WD-40, and a half a dozen other fluids, and the problem is still there. I decided to take the panel off and get inside the door but realized the vehicle has manual windows. I have taken the window regulator on several other vehicles, but never a Ford. I could not figure out haw to get it off. Might be simple or might need a special Ford tool. Anyone one have some ideas how to get the manual window regulator off? Thanks.

I haven't taken one off personally, but it's pretty simple. Check out this video.

Thanks so much for that mhoward. Hers appeared to be one solid piece, but to be honest, I had just finished a rear drum brake job, new tail gate handle, etc. etc. and perhaps I was a little tired and had enough. I will have another look at her door, as from the video, it looks very simple. Thanks for taking the time to post the video.
