Door handle and latch assembly

Does anyone have a detailed drawing of the inner assembly of the door handle and latch system? Specifically I'm looking to see if there is a grommet in the hole where the rod to the outer handle connects. I know there is a clip there, but is there a bushing or grommet as well?

I just replaced the clip and there is still substantial slop in the mechanism. Thanks in advance.

My outer handle does not have the metal tab/bushing at all. It has THIS STYLE and I think there is a significant amount of play in the slot. What I'm looking for is on the other end of the rod. Where the rod connects to the latch, there is a retaining clip. Is there a bushing in the latch hole where the retaining clip gets inserted?

Is this a job for amateurs?...thinking I might just buy the assembly and walk in a local body shop and see if I can find somebody to put it in for cash

Replacing the door handle? I would say anyone with common sense and some basic tools would be able to tackle it, no problem.

We run the old Ranger (we call him "tuffy"). 244k miles here at https://www.escondidojunk.com/about-us.html Might be our top money maker. Fords are built like tanks.. even the small trucks.
