I want to install an electric van on my 2002 Ford Ranger 3.0 L automatic. I read that you can use a stock Taurus fan. Which year model Taurus will work with my truck? Or should I buy a kit from Summit racing. I would like to have it set up to turn on automatically when the engine reaches a certain camp and also an override control switch.

The temp sensor for the e-fan will be on upper radiator hose, you cut the stock hose and insert the adapter with the threaded hole for the sensor, the sensor needs to be on side or bottom of the upper rad hose so it is always covered by coolant.
The upper rad hose is where air can collect if you have a coolant leak.

Override switch can be a problem because people forget...............
If you wish to turn e-fan OFF so you can do water/river crossings without soaking the engine bay then I would just install a fuse in engine bay that can be pulled out when needed.

If you want an ON switch that overrides temp sensors then install a Ground switch on temp sensor, when switch is "on", grounded in cab, then e-fan would be on when key was on(assuming you hook fan relays to key on circuit), but it could never cause fan to not come on if temp reached trigger point.
