Have a good running '98 xlt 4l auto with a rusted out frame.
I also have an custom '89 club cab xlt complete with towing package. I bought it new.
The tranny, once again, has died on me.
The torque heavy gas-hogging 2.9 has only 40k miles on the rebuild.
I'm thinking of swapping the 4l and tranny from the 98 into the '89.
Alternately, i could entertain using a better tranny than the stock underpowered original one though I've been very happy with the 4l in the '98.
suggestions?
