Erg sensor

My erg sensor melted. I dont knoe how it could have happened. Cant find many good pictures of it on the internet. Where its bolted on there is a gap between it and where it bolts to. Couldnt get pics to upload. Any ideas why it would melt? Is ther something that goes between ot and the engind4

Welcome to the forum

We assume you have a Ford Ranger

What year and what engine?

Also 2WD or 4x4
Manual or automatic trans
While these are not related to question, like year and engine, it is good to know

It is called a DPFE sensor, depending on the year.
Its location depends on the engine you have, 2.3l, 2.5l, 3.0l, or 4.0l.

Its a 99 4.0l auto 4x4. I got the sensor changed. I looked under the hood and found it melted because of the buzzing noise. It sounder like it was coming from the same area, upper driver side. Omly makes the noise when i accelerate
