First Draft TOTM Rules

Well here is what I came up with off the top of my head. Is there anything y'all think will need to be added? The moderators ultimately have the final say in this, but I want to see what the rest of y'all have to say about this.

Ranger-Forums.com Truck of the Month Rules

Nominations:
-Up to 5 trucks per month may be nominated on a first-nominated, first-entered basis.
-A member may not nominate him/her self.
-The truck nominated must be owned by the member (not a previously owned vehicle) and must be a Ford Ranger.
-When placing a nomination, the nominating member must state the Ranger-Forums.com screen name of the individual being nominated, as well as a picture of that individual’s truck.
-The first 5 trucks with name and picture posted in that month’s nominations thread will be entered in the poll for Truck of the Month.
-Nominations will begin on the 15th of every month, and will close once 5 trucks have been nominated, or 5 days pass, whichever is sooner.
-Contributor status is not a requisite for nomination.

If You are Nominated for Truck of the Month:
-Please submit your favorite and most recent picture of your truck along with factory specs and any mods you have done to it to the person in charge of Truck of the Month as soon as possible. Personal information about the owner of the truck may also be included if desired.

Voting:
-A poll will be set up with each truck’s mods and picture, and a brief profile of the member who owns the truck (profile optional).
-Each member will have one vote to vote for which truck they believe should be truck of the month.
-Voting will begin on the 20th of the month and conclude exactly 1 week later, on the 27th.
-Votes will be tallied on the 27th and 28th, and the winner will be announced on the last day of the month.
-In the event of a tie, a 1-day tiebreaker poll between the tied trucks will be taken where each member will have one vote.

Multiple Nominations:
-If a truck wins Truck of the Month, he or she is not eligible to be nominated again for at least 6 months. After the 6 month time period, he or she may be nominated again through the normal nomination process.
-If a truck is nominated one month and does not win, he or she is eligible the next month to be nominated again through the normal nomination process.

Benefits for Winning Truck of the Month:
-Your truck will be displayed on the Welcome screen of Ranger-Forums.com for the entirety of the month for which you are Truck of the Month.
-Bragging Rights = D
-Other possible benefits may later include: a special page on Ranger-Forums.com showcasing all trucks of the month, a special sticker signifying your time as Truck of the Month, a special avatar border, or other things as deemed appropriate by the moderators of Ranger-Forums.com.

Ok then,

"The truck nominated must be owned by the member (not a previously owned vehicle) and must be a Ford Ranger or Mazda B-series (except Tippnover)."

Ah yes! Forgot about the Mazda's.

I'll leave this up for a day or two, make the corrections, and then PM it to ScottyG. He and Christian will then hash it out I guess.

don't some boards not allow moderators to partake in the nominations?? im just throwing that out there.. personally, i dont see a need to do that, i'd actually like to vote for a couple of the mod's trucks.. anyways.. just bringing that up.

I don't know if they do or don't, but I think it's perfectly acceptable for the mods to be nominated also. Just so long as they don't go off on a topic-locking spree if they lose

good question there, if its a person nominating someone else's truck, i wouldnt see why you would rule out mods, its not like they can nominate themselves.

and if i remember correctly GE used to do 7 members nominated, is there a reason for 5?

Unless Christian is willing to throw out the server space for a seperate site/page, I will at least make sure a new thread section is started called TOTM and only a moderator will be able to start a post (ie. October TOTM 2005 etc...)

Keep up with the ideas and let me know when the "rules" are 100% complete

I dont know, I just figured 5 was a nice round number. We could do 7 instead. Anyone else want more or less nominees?

5 sounds fair, only because it creates more work for the moderators if the number is any higher, and if they're letting us do this, we should totally be nice to them and take what we can get!!

Also I think that you can't win again for 6 months should be at least for a year.

yea more then 5 for sure, i like 7 because theres a decent amount of trucks, but the votes wont get spread so thin...

are the votes going to be hidden so that we dont know who won untill you annouce it?

The one year is a very good point. I'll make that change I like it. As far as 10 trucks nominated, I think that might be a little too much work. Somewhere between 5 and 7 sounds pretty good. That's a balance between having more trucks that can get nominated (which IMO it's pretty cool just to get nominated) and having too much work for whoever decides to take this TOTM on as a moderator. Is there anything else we feel like we need to address? Perhaps something about making amendments to the rules down the road?
