Hitch Recommendations 2005 Ford Ranger

Right now I only have a bumper mounted ball. Ok for moving my splitter, but way too high for my small utility trailer. I would like to get a complete bolt on trailer hitch receiver.

I am considering the etrailer hidden hitch ($190) and the JC Whitney Cut round tube hitch receiver ($153).

Would appreciate your input on which you feel is easier to install and why.

Thanks,

Pete

one vote here for Hidden Hitch.
I installed the Hidden Hitch Model# 70181 for my 2007, great fit, no fussing with the spare and it stayed in place while i got all the bolts in. One fastener nut had to be trimmed to squeeze into the frame corner, but aside from that the install only took a few minutes.

Thanks B737. Sounds like paying a little more for the Hidden Hitch would be worth doing. Your description will help me when I go to install mine.

Waiting for a few more comments before I decide for sure.

I picked up a CURT tube level III hitch off eBay for at most $120. Install took maybe 30 minutes. I used it when I moved to Raleigh (2 trips totaling 260 miles under load). Then another 130 miles towing a Toro "side by side." The majority of the trips were doing highway speeds.

Curt here too

Another vote for the class III Curt receiver hitch. I got mine for roughly $120 from Amazon and it ships free if you follow directions. A very easy install, once you have a receiver hitch you will be hooked, very versatile, go with whatever drop you need for the application. If you off road or live in the snow belt you can plug in a D-ring (clevis) adapter for safer use of a recovery strap too.

I have a Hidden Hitch class III on my '03, got it about a year ago. Very easy to install, no holes to drill, and works well. Would you like to see a pic?
