Icon8 Fuel filler hose replaced/now wont allow tank to get filled

So I finally got the bed off and replaced the fuel filler hose (old one was definitely cracked). However now when I try to fill it up it clicks off, I can only get gas in it at a trickle pace . I tried putting more in faster and it shot back out at me.

Did we likely end up pinching/crimping the new line or is there a vent on the tank that's likely clogged? the only thing noticeable was the inner plastic hose in the filler line was maybe an inch longer, everything else matched perfectly.

Need the year of Ranger?
Also stepside or regular?

Yes there is a vent for the EVAP system but it won't cause your issue

Ranger used two different types of fillers, 4 if you count stepside or regular, lol
Single hose with 2nd longer hose inside it, seen here: https://www.fillernecksupply.com/pro...d-photo-24.jpg

And 2 separate hoses, seen here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...k-imag0885.jpg

On the single hose setup the longer hose is where the gas comes out into the tank and the larger outer hose is where the air comes out, the vent

On the two hose setup the smaller hose is the Vent

The air vents at the top of the filler, if you look inside filler with cap off you will see the Vent hole(s), thats where the air comes out
So as the gasoline flows in the air can get out

You can also bend the gas IN filler hose too much so gas can't flow down the hose very fast so not a Vent issue at all
Put your hand up under bed and feel the hose(s) for tight bends

Sorry forgot to add that. 1993 XLT 4.0 extended cab. and that is the hose we used for it (the filler neck supply link you posted). Does that metal shield affect anything as well?

So single hose with longer hose in the center

Yes, metal plate helps against outer hose rubbing against body and also kinking at that spot

Ron D, you were completely correct about the ECU relay that fixed my no-start problem a couple weeks ago, thanks. Now i have the same can't fill the gas tank problem. So, you're saying that one tiny hole next to the filler hole is what lets the tank vent?

I had the same problem when I replaced the fuel filler hose the first one I got was a cheaper one off Amazon and I could not fill it no matter what I did (apparently either the vent was plugged or the line was kinked or something but there was nothing but back pressure when I tried to fill it and the only way I could get it in was a very slow trickel or gas would shoot back out at me). Ended up going to get one from advance Auto parts and ended up paying a little bit more but did not have the problem anymore it's been working fine ever since.
