$.55 You must be another old guy. Think it was like $.27-.28 per gallon when I started driving. I could fill the 26 gal tank on my Oldsmobile for about $7. Of course if you smoked back then you also only paid $.19-.20 for a pack of cigarettes. Now they are what, $4.00 or so a pack? However I think minimum wage was like $.55 or $.60 per hour. If you had a job that paid $6K per year or more you were in high cotton.

BTW I just paid $3.54.9 for 87 octane here in the So. Calif desert.

Where do the people we buy oil from get their food? I say if they get ANY from us we need to jump the price of beef to 4 bucks a pound. It would be hard to grow crops and raise live stalk with nothing but sand.

Paid 3.05, then saw it cheaper down the street..

I remember $1.05 like in 1998?

I also remember when I got the truck in 2004 I could fill the whole tank for less than $20! now it is like borderline $40!!!!

I used to work through a company in Santa Ana. I hardly ever went there though, they would schedule me through the phone or fax. I would drive daily from my home here in Victorville to pretty much anywhere from as far south as San Diego to as far north as Ventura...........and "EVERYWHERE" in between. I worked there for nearly 10 years until the construction industry took a dump!

I worked on a housing development called "Aliso". The builder is K. Hovnanian. If you keep going up Balboa to Sesnon you make a left (you can only make a left) and keep going til the road ends up in the mountains.

Those houses are like 7,000 square feet with 7/8 bedrooms and 6/7 bathrooms! They are enormous, but even more enormous is the price tag of 5 milliom bucks!

Yeah, I remember when I turned 16 in 1995, gas was under $0.50/L.....I remember *****ing when it reached $.55/L because filling my 85 Olds Cutlass was getting expensive.....especially with the gas sucking engine under the hood.
Now fuel is $1.08/L. Doubled over the last 13 years.

Yeah, seems there's talk of gas shortages in the Prairies and price hikes all over.

I'm just gonna sit back and see what happens. Unfortunately the price keeps going up and there is nothing we can do but just pay. High prices fuel has just become another fact of everyday regular life.

One thing that pis*es me off is when they switched from Gallons to Liters here. Oh we fine Canucks sure took it up the ol'pooper then.
With keeping the $1 at par, 1 US Gal = 4.546 L. So with the fuel today being $1.08/L........that makes us paying $4.90/Gal here.

Yep, even when it was steady around $.90/L a few weeks ago.....that's still $4.09/Gal. I agree w/ D in saying, "Silly Canadians." LOL

Did they check the tires?

Wow, nice! I remember pumping gas for customers at the ol' Shell Station.
We even checked the spare tire.

i am having to work more hours and more jobs to pay for gas but i also am staying at my ladies mothers house witch is only a mile or so from my main job...i ride my MT BIKE, best damn gas mile-age you can get! but i can only do it when i know its going to be nice and not rain...but i live in washington. i fulled up on minday in port orchard...3.28 and thats with 3 cents off for using my safeway card. ran out of gas in 4 days....back to putting 3.48 in $10-20 everyday...we all do need to start to think about how much we do drive around! why europe countrys have higher gas prices is due to they don't use as much sense there cities and towns are close then anywhere in the US...besides if your right in the heart of some large city and then alot of peeps use trains bus's cabs etc.......gas is on the rise and should be for ever...

We're up to 3.05-3.15 around here. There are a lot of stations around in the city, so you can drive around a bit to find a lower price.

I drive about 50 miles for work (round trip) each day, 20 miles for school. I've been just leaving from school to work to save an extra trip. Mass transit is pretty bad around here. Especially when you don't work regular business hours. Phoenix is putting in the light rail system, but it won't be any help for another 5 years or so, at least.

just hit 3.15-3.19 here..Something has to be done about this. Its where no one can even afford to go on vaction. I believe before too long there will be an uprising of people against the system..Policiticans sit on their fat a$$ and soak this money up, while we the middle class work are a$$ off. People are only gonna take so much of this pushing around....Soon gas might be free to me...lol

yeah, the day after hell freezes over.
$3.23 here but Diesel is $3.99, ouch!
Better be one hell of an efficient engine to better the cost of a gas engine.
So bend over and take it like a man, it's not going to get any better.
Don't expect OPEC to give you a kiss on the cheek, either, they're too busy buying your daughters.

x2...I live 2 miles from our commuter train station. My employer foots the bill (I pay $25/year, actually costs general public about $1500 for yearly pass). I don't pay for parking in downtown Seattle or burn gas. It's very nice.

My wife works 3 miles away from where we live.

The average gallon of gas has 42cents a gallon in taxes from state/feds on it. Deduct that tax, and people would be a lot better off.
You can't just deduct that tax...that's what's paying for the road your vehicle is driving on...and the gas tax hasn't risen nationally in a loooooong time. The reason gas is getting so expensive is because the Dollar is so weak globally, all the foreign investors are buying up oil and making a steal on it.
