GAS....lets hear what everyone has to say!
i live in canada but when i figure it out its between 4.40 and 5.00 a gallon it is about 1.30 a litre our government ships our gas down across the boarder and then brings it back up so they can charge tax on it twice so americans get canadian gas cheaper than canadians do because they only pay the tax on it once.
hmmm i payed 60 bucks for 15 gallons of regular (3.99 a gallon)....and im getting a whomping 13.7mpg? i take it pretty easy on the truck, its only got 540 miles on it so far too. its an 08 FX4 with everything in it and on it, cept bed rails...so should i expect much better mpg?

until recently i was thinking of selling my ranger and buying a 60,000 mile '96 bronco off my dad. it was bought new by him and has the 351, gets about 15 when not towing on the highway, not sure what the "city" milage is. my ranger gets 17-19 hwy and about 15 in town. id hate to fill that bronco tank from empty, just the other day it was over 50 bucks to fill the ranger and i still had 5 gallons left. i think the bronco tank is around 33 gallons.

Here in KS it just went up to $3.71 for reg. I put somewhere around $45 in the other day and for some reason the pump stopped, I wasn't going to argue with it, but it was still only 3/4 of a tank.
I'm 21 and even though it was before I was driving, I remember when gas was below $1 a gallon.

You'll find this at a lot of stations . Especially when useing a credit card the pump will cut off at $50.00. PITA
You have to reset the pump to top off.
I can only speculate this is done due to either credit card fraud or because so many people run their card over the limit and the station / card company gets stiffed.

3.85 last night on the way to work. time to ressurect dads '76 honda CB360T. i should have gotton a rebel a few years back, the wife isnt a fan of bikes at all, but somethings got to change here. i can picture every shcoll district going on the ballot for levis or doing away with bussing altogether. my child is open-enrollled. weve been taking her for years. 40 miles a day on the car just for taking her and going back to get her. since ive been on 2nd ive been taking her in the mornings and the wife gets her at night. weve discussed home-schooling or putting her back in the "home" district. i could almost ride a bicycle to work, but going through the middle of town everyday wwith the rush-hour traffic would unnerve me. and coming home after midnight could be scary as well. we already go nowhere now because of fuel costs. feels like being trapped in your own home. its been just cool enough that i havent been able to shut the gas off to the furnace yet, hopefully i can do that soon. thought i could last week but it started raining and it dropped to 50 outside and i ended up starting the furnace back up again.

Hmmm... This thread started in March at 3.25ish per gallon. 2 monnths later.. its comin close to 4$/gallon.
I LOVE IT!
A while back I predicted 4$ a gallon gas by this past nnew years, I was off a few months, but close enough.
The reason I state ' I love ir ', is because people now have to THINK!
Do you need to put fuel in your vehicle or get that new x-box? Food costs going up as well as everything else, people will now realise what is important. Nobody bothered to ' save for a rainy day ' and now its going to make everyone sit back and realise ' What the heck was I thinking! '
We used to be a very wasteful lot. ALL OF US, myself included. Now, we have to consider everything and look for solutions. The complaints can keep on going, but their nothing more then just wasted oxygen, nothing everyone hasn't heard before.
Hello ANWR and gulf coast! No new refinaries in 25+ years due to legislation to save a spotted owl.. SEE YA! Nuclear plants? Build them!
When it boils down to being able to put food on your plate or that owl..
I LOVE IT!

We all think we have it so bad till we reflect onto other things. Its tough to see anothers point when you haven't lived through it but one side will know the past and be able to compare.
To myself.. this is ' nothing new '. I would have thought that after what happened in the late 70's, there would be an ' awakening ' so we wouldn;t let a senario like the past one happen again. That ' rainy day ' came again, this time, on a new set of heads to pour upon. a different generation as well as some from the past ones.
Instead of putting away for that rainy day, we dug in even deeper. We limited our options and those holding the rain sat back and laughed waiting to pour it all upon us.
We had a thread on here a while back, the one TommyC from Cali and I disagreed upon. He believed teh government could do something to ease ' pump pains ' and such.. welp.. It looks like that ' gas tax holiday ' ( I mentioned removing the taxes being all they could really do ) has come to light.
The problem is, its FAR from a solution.
Theres really 2 options that are viable.
1.) Bankrupt everyone on our present course. Surely, when folks cannot afford to buy fuel to go to their dream jobs 30 miles away and make a livable wage, they will turn to crime or ' other means ' to satisfy their need for purchases ( food, electric, heating costs durring the winter ). Crime rates going up? Riots maybe?
One thing for sure with choice#1 is.. a lot of unhappy people that might cause a lot of disorder and it sux to the the ' government ' when its THEIR policies and the idiots that pull their strings that didn;t learn from the past at all.
2.) Kick the greenies in the teeth and tell them ' your polar bears and owls mean nothing to me if I can't feed my family. to the gallows with you ' and excise them and their policies of starving mankind out of existence.
The reality of the situation : We polute. China pollutes TWICE as bad. If we stop putting out emissions, China won't. We don't elect those in China and we surely cannot tell them what they can or cannot do. If we quit using fossil fuels, other nations will pick up the tab where we left a gap and run with it till the demand is re-filled. They are QUITE the growing industrialized nation ( IE: USA durring WWII. ).
So, we should do ' our part ' once more and pay all the planets bills by eating higher fuel costs and worry about feeding ourselves? We should just take the burden for all those other nations that won't even stand up for themselves?
Sorry, enough is enough. Open ANWR and the Gulf Coast while working on a process to become less dependant on other nations for ANYTHING!
