You need to find a fill up station that sells offroad deisel bro!

That's what I'd do if I had a personal vehicle that ran diesel. All the taxes on diesel are meant for big trucks. Why should you get screwed?

 

Same with me. 1 mile to school and back haha. Is that bad for the truck to drive it such a short distance?

 

why complain if you got a truck (which wasn't designed for economy driving) and the price of gas is a lot worse in different countries?

ride public transportation, drive a corolla/civic, carpool, ride a bike, walk, or get a diesel VW and covert it to run on vegetable oil

 

My Boss lives about a block away from me and has a 2003 V10 F-250 (less than 30K miles) that he drives. Last month he started it and it had 0 oil pressure so he shut it off and had it towed to the ford dealer in town. The oil filter was plugged solid with ice and the drained about a gallon of water out of the engine when it was drained. The dealer told him it was caused by not running the truck enough. It never got hot enough to burn off the condensations and it built up over the winter. I have had oil that turned to pudding in my explorer since I have been here for the same reason and both of us warm our vehicles up before we go to work. It is worse on a vehicle to drive short distances than it is long hauls. Heck I get 12 MPG with my Explorer now since I moved here. I used to get 20 when I drove 75 miles a day.

Eh its just something that i have to do. I love driving the truck too much anyway. I've been getting 18-19mpg the last couple tanks so thats pretty darn good for 32s!

 

True. Just kind of a bummer. I would love more mpg, but im not going to a hybrid lol. No thanks.

 

the gas pump stops around here after 75 bucks Then you have to resubmit it....

i just let it stop and go about my business.

costs around 50 to fill the magnum up

 

i almost always refill at 1/4 tank left so i never refill past 30-35 usually

 

one problem tho..... atleast in california, possably other states they can and have done random test on a few people i know. its like an absorbent dip stick that fits in the filler neck and they check for the red dye fuel.

offroad diesel and on road diesel is the same stuff as far as i know but they dye the offroad diesel red so its easy to tell if its being used for right purpose. the fines for gettin caught running red dye is steeep!


oh and i get 19.3MPG and anywhere from 190-230 miles to the tank. have a 16 gal tank, i run usualy till i have about 3 gallons left and fill up so i usualy take 12ish gallons of fuel and totals out at 45 bux.

 

Hell, it cost me almost $40 to fill up our Honda Civic!

 

its not to bad for me $42.00 fills up 19 1/2 gal tank e-85 ethanol $2.79 gallon about 18mpg

 

I consider it an accomplishment if I can get the truck filled up for less than $50, past that I start griping. Sure as hell glad I'm not in my Bronco any more, last summer it cost me $95 to fill it up

 

It might be stricter out there but even in a big truck I only had it happen once at a DOT truck weigh station in NC.

I just can't see them physically trying to identify a diesel class c vehicle to check for the offroad dye.

 

the truckin company i work for on and off doing some pilot car work. they were chaseing iron all day and almost ran out of diesel in one of there pilot trucks. old dodge ram. anyways it had a transfer tank with some red dye in it. they used the dye. well about hour or two later the pilot truck driver had to follow the load through the scales. they pulled the semi truck and load in and the pilot truck to check paperwork n all. well they dipped the pickups tank and looked into the semi trucks tank for the dye. i was told it was around 10 grand after it was all said n done in fees and fines.

but hey to each there own. jus passin on a red dye in a onroad vehicle story i had...


BTW: i wasent driving the pilot truck. it happend a few years before i got into the gig.

 

I fill my Van up every other day (m-f) and it cost around $90 to fill it up. Luckly I have a gas card that my work gives me so I havent really felt the full effect of the gas prices yet. Although we do have to keep gas in the Mustang for the wife to drive but we can put $30 in it and she can drive it all week to work and back (the $30 usually gives her about 3/4 tank).
The main thing I hate about filling up is how long it takes to do it now, lol.

cost me $58 to fill from just under 1/4. come to alberta then see if your gas prices are too bad. i dont know how to do the conversion but by july they are expecting it to be $1.50 a litre.

 

Takes 60-65 bucks to fill the Jeep. It is getting 16-17 mostly city, and we got 20 over the weekend on a trip to Canada. All in all it will go up once summer gas comes back...

thats why i bought the ranger, $65 bucks from half a tank in the chevy sucked. couldnt let it go lower or it hurt too bad to fill it up. now $40 from 1/4 and i drive the chevy on weekends.

 

I can get 375-400 miles out of a tank if I baby my Ranger, but I usually get about 350 miles out of a full tank, which is great compared to what alot of people here get. my truck is a std. cab with a 2.3 liter 4cyl with a manual transmission. I actually think I can do better since It still has the original plugs and wires. and it has those heavy steel wheels on it. I drive about 90% of the time at 55+ mph. on my 38 mile round trip from school 4 days a week. nice part is that I only work 2 miles from my house

 

by off road diesel im guessing you mean the stuff farmers get at a discounted price? my grandpa went to a gas station that had it once and he just pulled up to the first diesel pump he saw. started pumping and a sheriff happened to pull up and asked him if he was a farmer. he told him no and he didnt know what he was talking about. so the cop proceeded to explain to him and he had to stop pumping diesel. they let him just pay for what he got in and had to start pumping on the regular pumps instead. he was lucky that time. and when i had my ranger i got around 20 to 25 on the highway. amazingly since it was an extended cab with the 4.0, but thats because i was only running 29" tires and had that 3.27 rear end.

 

My Ranger gets about 14-15 mpg which sucks, but I would rather be driving my truck than a Honda Civic.

 

It's killin me. Over $60 to fill up from E. I use 93 octane, but now I'm using 87 with an octane boost. Let's see $60 full tank vs. 5.00 in octane boost and about $45 in gas. I think I'll buy a case of octane boost........My truck runs better on 93 octane..so I try to keep the octane content at least 90 or so. I also haven't gone home in a while and drive only when I need to.

 

i dont do too bad..It cost me on E, about 45$ or less..I only get about 260-280 outa a 16.5 gal tank....Just changed the fuel filter, pcv, and plugs so i hope its gets a little better...Average 18-19 with 32s and 3.73..I only fill up once every 6 days.
