It doesn't matter how high gas goes up..people will still continue to buy it and do nothing but complain. Around election time it will drop for a short time...better invest in a 55gal drum.

I feel ya.. I'm going the opposite way. FL to Wisconsin for the summer. Luckily once I get there I might fill up the tank twice since I'll be living at summer camp and won't need to drive anywhere.

Why not quit your whining like a wench that wasn't tipped and elect some people whom will stick it to the greens and make the costs go down? Why not elect someone whom will take down the tax levels to a more bearable level.

Instead, its to easy to say someone is robbing them then to do something about the situation.
Chill out, you are in a topic that says "Are gas prices killing when you fill up your truck?"
meaning its a topic for people to vent in, not for someone to come in and ***** them out about taxes and levies and whining.
We understand how gas prices works, its just frustrating.
Plus try living in a city that has no mass transit, no ability to walk, or ride a bike to work. Your only option is to drive and sit in an hr worth of traffic both ways.

Who says we dont vote, Voting isnt until november, so that does us no good especially for you to be *****ing to people about it.

Over 4$ in the Los Angeles area at some stations.

This is a neat little map. I'd like to be the first to announce that NY is not only receiving a 1.25$ per pack tax increase for smokes, but another 22.5cents per gallon on gasoline as well! w00t!

http://www.api.org/statistics/fuelta...ARY_2008-2.pdf

Cali leads the nation at 63.9cents a gallon in taxes! When they fill up at the pump with a 4x4, they are paying 12 bucks in taxes to the state! US average is 47cents a gallon at the state.

The Federal Tax of 18.4 cents per gallon is collected in all states in addition to any state or local taxes on gasoline sales.

Gasoline taxes are levied in various ways in different states. Some states, such as Louisiana, levy a flat rate per gallon. Others charge a tax similar to a sales tax in that it applies to the monetary amount of the gasoline sold. Other states allow local communities to levy gasoline taxes in addition to any state taxes that might be levied.

Think of this.. In Cali right now, 83 cents a gallon is taxes. If they deducted that 83 cents, the savings to consumers...

Keep complaining and doing nothing while your wallet feels your pain.
Not to meantion that most of our oil is imported, which means when the american dollar goes down gas goes up.

Personally I'd like to see it hit $5. It'll keep some of the idiots off the road this summer.

You guys have it easy. Gas here with the conversion rate is like $4.25 a gallon and they still say its going to go up. I would be happy if it was under $4 like most of you.

I'm buying all my gas from Costco these days. It's about 8 cents per gallon cheaper than the other gas stations plus I have an American Express/Costco cash rewards card that gives me an additional 3 percent off the price of gas purchased there. We have a Costco near our home so it's a no brainer for us. Every little bit helps.

Naw, its easier to whine

Think about that four bucks baby! Can't wait to see those posts!
Actually i think your quite amusing,
So seriously, you have your own opinion and im not trying to change it, nor do i expect you to change mine. I didnt start this thread, i hardly post in them, and i really dont care. And yes i buy the gas because i have to get from one place to another and yes i'm going to continue to pay for it. I know there is nothing i can do about it at this point. And i agree, there should be a section to "complain about gas prices" probably in the "blow off valve" area for those who feel the need to vent, so every other topic is not flooded with them

the sad reality of the situation, is that I honestly do not believe, that voting anyone 'new' into office will change anything. The status quo has been set, and NO one is going to change it. Washington DC is OWNED by bullion dollar corporations. What it really comes down to, is that if a coporation wants something they get it. If millions of people want something - such as gas price relief, Washington says 'Sucks to be you'.

I understand D's reasoning. However, this country operated on the internal combustion engine. ANd big oil aint going to allow ANY alternative fuel to come into THEIR market with out a major fight. So getting alternative fuels on a wide spread level like gasoline is, isnt going to happen any time soon

The sad reality is, is that there isnt a damn thing anyone can do about the prices of gasoline. What can you do? NOTHING. You can vote, big deal, thats not going to change a damn thing. Personally, I think if things are going to change, people need to die. and thats the way it is, Because Washington no longer listens to the people, but to billion dollar corporations.

I buy all my gas at Stop & Shop it is a good 8-10 cents cheaper. I dont drive far so i only use half a tank a week. With all the troops in Iraq we should invade the oil feilds and syphon ther gas. I am no economist but maybe we could drill in alaska and flood the market with cheap oil making other bigger oil companies lower their prices.

At least your guys' truck take regular. I paid 4.06 for my premium gas last week.

But I really don't care. I track my mileage just to keep an eye on possible problems, but my I love driving my car so much I don't even think about it. I just drive it, enjoy it and when I get low on gas I fill it back up.

But the worst mileage I got in my car is just a little under the best mileage I ever got in my truck.

That still doesn't change the fact that gas is expensive and climbing when income isn't.

This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ........ $10.32 per gallon

Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ...........$9.52 per gallon

Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ...... $10.17 per gallon

Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 . $10.00 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 . $33.60 per gallon

Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 .... $178.13 per gallon

Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 ..... $123.20 per gallon

Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ......... .. $25.42 per gallon

Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 .$84.48 per gallon

And this is the REAL KICKER...

Evian water 9 oz $1.49..........$21.19 per gallon?!
$21.19 for WATER

And the buyers don't even know the source. (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)

So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, or God forbid Pepto Bismol or Nyquil.

Just a little humor to help ease the pain of your next trip to the pump
