Gas Smell in Cab

I have a new to me 1994, 2.3l, that only gets driven occasionally. Lately I've started to notice a gas smell in the cab that is getting worse. Any ideas on where I should start?

Welcome to the forum

Open the hood
Cycle the key on and off 5 times slowly
Go to engine bay and see if you can smell gasoline
Intake side(drivers side of engine) from leaking injector o-rings or fuel lines

Each time you turn the key on the fuel pump runs for 2 seconds, but only 2 seconds, so you are cycling it on and off to get more fuel pumped up to the engine making a leak more detectable, you can not over pump the fuel so don't worry about that

Other thing could be a gas tank leak at the top or filler hose leak, but you would usually smell that outside the cab, not inside

No smell

Thanks, I tried turning the key on and off and didn't get a smell under the hood. The fuel filler hose was replaced about a year ago(previous owner). Is it possible to be egr related?

That would be an Exhaust smell not a gasoline smell

In a 1994 the EVAP canister is in the engine bay on the rad support drivers side
Looks similar to this: https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...210_211656.jpg

Follow the hoses coming from the canister and look for cracks
If you overfill the gas tank, gasoline can get into the hose that runs back to the tank, which is why you should never add more gas after pump clicks off the first time.....on ANY vehicle
