Hi,

I have been smelling gas from the inside of my 1994 Ford Ranger 2.3L. It has only been noticed recently, and after checking the hoses and gas cap I didn't find any problem. The smell is only experienced shortly after starting and when going over very bumpy roads. Does that help anyone to diagnose my problem? Have others of you had a gas smell and resolved the issue?

Check the straps on the fuel tank... if it's dropping down / moving it can crack the lines coming out of the fuel pump on top of the tank. There's a ford recall for the straps. I had that problem on my 95

 

Any more info on this recall? How do i know if it was fixed on my truck?

 

I would thiink you can call a ford dealeerhip with your vin # and they should be able to look up if it was done.

 

My fuel filler kneck is cracked. it over fills then cracks. I'm gonna fix it real soon.

 

Check the Sending Unit Gasket, could be leaking.
