I thought, "that was weird" So i started it up again, then shut it down: same sound. I dont know what is going on with it becuase i have noticed strange sounds with it lately. I was kind of thinking it may be my starter. Every once in a while i'll go to start it and it dosent want to start nice and easy like it usually does, like the starter vibrates and shakes the whole truck, its weird, and hard to explain. But if it keeps doing this i may just take it to the dealer. Hopefully my Limited warranty will cover it...But does anyone know whats up with it? Or anyone experience these similiar problems?? Thanks for input.

I own a 2013 New Ford Ranger and have the identical problem including hard starting. I suspect it's a fuel injection issue. The hard starting I think is attributable to a flooded engine as fuel continues to flow after shut down.
I notice that the noise can be stopped by using the remote to lock the car, although it can take several tries.
It's a pain in the **** for an otherwise very reliable car.
You can bet of the dealer gets involved in ignition or injector issues, it will cost plenty.

There's got to be someone that's had this issue and solved it.

May or may not be your cause, but I heard a humming/hissing sound in my truck after shut down too. One day I plugged my phone into the usb adapter in the power port and the noise went away. Unplugged it and the noise came back. Plugged it in again and no noise. If I leave my usb adapter plugged in with nothing plugged into it (no power draw), it hums. 100% sure it's the usb adapter that is causing my noise. Food for thought.

I certainly appreciate this.
I'm curious to see if this will produce a similar result. Gremlins in the electrical system can be a major challenge and if one does not describe the issue to a repair shop correctly it's costly in money and man hours.

Much appreciated.
