Well I got everything unhooked up on top today. I just need to unhook the trans, remove the starter and exhaust and I can pull the motor out...Maybe tommorrow...

How in the world did the tailgate rust and the rest of the truck appears to be ok?

Its actually pretty common in the rust belt, almost all stepsides have some rust on the tailgate.

Looks like a pretty decent truck. I'm sure you will get it up and running in no time.

Yeah I'm just going to set the 2 motors side by side and switch everything, shouldn't be a problem...

Not the interior of the bed. It just seems odd only one spot rusts like that...I'm glad I really sprayed that down after driving in the salt. Since I had the power washer out I was like hmm I will do my bed liner...I mean that is horrible. Is it just the stepside tailgates?

They will all rust along that bottom tailgate seam but stepsides are much worse than stylesides...I'm not sure why..

Yeah I am not going to go crazy with it with the high mileage. Swap the motor, find a tailgate and paint it, replace catback exhaust, cure the cel and abs lights, and a good cleaning.

well you can take my 3.0 and make your other one a flex fuel and make the tranny 4wd and you get the frame so all you'll need is a body and you'll be good to go.

Well I got the fuel pump/gauge changed and the exhaust changed. Plugged in the abs and drove it, looks like a bad wheel sensor on the LF. Took it on a short road trip this evening Up to pittsburgh...ran great no problems. Picked up a tailgate that will need bodywork but not rusted like the one on there...

Haha, sounds good. I wish I had the money to do projects like you do. Paying for college kills all of the fun stuff like that.

I make money doing this, I probably won't make a bunch on this truck though with 196000 miles but I'll still make some.
