so just recently my little 02 danger ranger started crapping out (170k miles) i went down to the transmission shop and it needs a rebuild... 1400-1700 buck estimate... yeah they are trying to rape me... but i think im gunna say ***** it and do something new.... would putting a mustang 5.0 engine tranny and rear end be worth doing? i just dont know where exactly to start im not exactly made of money just need god ideas that are gunna make it fast and fun spending about as much as i would be on getting tranny rebuilt

Usually always best to fix up what you have, but 170k on a 4 cyl and looking at 1500 bucks is a bit tough to take. How much you figure a 5.0 swap with tranny will be? Can't be that much more I wouldn't think.

 

it wouldnt be too overly bad but if i do that would i need new rear end too? and idk if i could get it to pass inspection i dont know enough about it down in texas havent been here long.. all i know is those jerks made me peel off my window tint

theres been alot of people on here with 302 swaps, you should contact them. very few were 2wd because of a 2wd explorer/mountaineer being found

as for the texas inspection im not sure, maybe someone from texas can chime in?

or you could buy a junkyard 5r44 and put it in and be done with it for about 1/2 the price of a 5.0 swapif not less

That sounds like your best bet. Better than trying to turn your truck into something it's not, IMO.

 

Just get a tranny from like a pull a part and put it in yourself. Find one that looks and feels good (when shifting). It wouldn't cost that much. Why are you letting a shop do it? They're always going to try to rape you when you bring it in cause they know they can.

depends i called fm 600 they dont have one they told me to call these people (325) 673-6542 mikes wrecking i just did but they are closed until one for lunch i will call them in a cpl min when they open back up and i will get back to you.

we could have a tranny swaped in a cpl hours

yeah that would be amazing i am just not sure where we would be able to do it up here i am going to talk to my buddy that owns a body shop

 

does it drive? i have a garage on my famileys farm in Loraine tx its like 4 hours from dallas(and 45min from that transmission i called on) id be willing to help for nothing maybe we could get the midland guys to come out and have a mini meet.
