I Think My Truck Is All Spare Parts.

I have owned my 03 edge for a little over a year now and i have come to the conclusion that i believe my truck is a bunch of spare parts ford had laying around and decided to make a car with it..ive been working on it alot and theres jus alot of random good parts and bad parts on my truck that are odd...Its an edge plus package with the rims and 6 cd changer, but it doesnt even have power windows, locks, or seats...i have 4.10 8.8 axle but its oly 2wd...i have TWO DIFFERENT UPPER CONTROL ARMS, one side is what it looks like an adjustible arm that lets you adjust the casting and such and on the other side it doesnt have the edjustment feature at all....i have mastercraft shocks??? i have a 3.0...anyways what do you guys think????

My friend has a 3.0 8.8 with 4.10s and 2wd. Both my rangers had one adjustable control arm and one not. I think you'll be alright.

Most edges have the 8.8" axle, I haven't heard of anyone who has a 7.5" axle. Think of that as the premium you get for buying an edge. Cool looks and a stronger axle.

Edit: Most edges, not all.

neither do i. and before u start whinig about the crappy craftsman ship, let me introduce you to the Rubber Duckified Ranger. been to the dealer 13 times total in 18 months. I have had the innards of my tranny replaced, tranny fluid changed like 5 times..... the computer flashed like 5 times. the rear differential fluid changed once. the lil 3 cent solenoids on the tranny changed countless times... the driverside pwr window motor replaced. the abs system has been taken apart and put back together, my rear brakes have been replaced....

now lets get on with craftsmanship. not one fender lines up correctly... the body lines on the passenger side are like, way off, my passenger door doesnt shut all the way, my hood is on crooked, and my valance needed new "clips" or something.

oh and heres the best part.... I, Me, the dude typing this, had to fix his own truck cause the dealer said I was dilusional.....

heres the deal on the lemon law in NYS. the vehical has to "screw up" when the state inspects it... atleast from what I have read. and, then if you win your case, cause u know ford is gonna fight it tooth and nail.... you have two options:

1) you can take a refund, minus the tax and interest you paid since owning the vehical.. so like, id get like $1200.... oh and if ur over 12,000 miles, u have to pay a mileage fee too...

2) you get another vehical, similar to the one u had, same trim/year/miles. heres the problem tho... u dont get to pick the color, and, my truck with the value pkg, with no pwr options are a dime a dozen around here.. mine is the only one i have seen with the pwr package. and id prefer new, cause of like, i know what my truck has been thru, and i have rust proofed it and stuff...

but anyways im rolling over 24K miles so lemon law is bye bye.. but so far the truck hasnt acted up since i fixed it, so im happy now

Well.....edges are a "lower" model than my xlt....but.....I'm a 4.0L, 5spd, 8.8 open w/ 4.10s, 4x4.......with........manual locks, windows, mirrors. I HATE IT!! I like to think of mine as some dude who didn't want that AWESOME keyfob with those buttons that lock/unlock the doors. And he didn't want those buttons that move the windows up and down and he didn't want those mirrors that move at the push of a button.

And I must not forget the lovely slave cylinders ford/mazda gives us. And can't forget that awesome timing chain/belt chime from the explod'r motor.

Spare parts, hmmmm....well, we do have the truck that is lowest on Fords ranking of pickups, i do consider them an Americaniz'd Mazda. But it's all good.

You know, Ford "carried over" a lot of stuff from years to years. I got an early 2001 XL, so I got the crappy 2.5L not the awesome newer 2.3L. Just something to think about.

now now children, play nice.

in the new line up the xlt is lower than the edge/sport package.... and while the key fob is nice, it only works from a distance of like 50ft.
