Not even then... We get plenty of snow here (up north anyway) and my 2wd truck with a few hundred pounds of sand in the back has done fine. I think the stick helps though....

4wd also holds its value better... though domestic rangers don't have it the same can be said for diesel trucks

I do know when backing uphill over sidewalks (don't ask why it was stupid and i was exusted), i couldn't make it in 2wd.

wtf kinda thread is this, i only read the first page... but seriously? whats better for offroading? a 4x4, 2wd or a car?

it's not a complete waste...look at the response he got

oh yeah, and IMHO: fwd cars are better than 2wd trucks in the snow

4x4 all the way...stoped putting money in my 2wd 4 banger...going to a f250 7.3 4x4 next...rangers just dont have the torgue i need to pull horse trailors and hual our tractor to deer fields and things, friend of mines 4.0 edge wont budge the tractor, disc, and section hair on a 20 ft trailor...plus its a 4000 ford tractor with front end loader on it...haha funny seein him try

thats probably what most of us have ( i assume MOST of the 4wd rangers out there have open diffs) for what i use my ranger for probably could get by with 2wd...this is my first 4wd anything ...the only thing u need to think about although harder to lose a 4wd on the road, if u do lose control harder to regain control

Haha. Well the original question said 'off roading'. He didn't explain whether it was mudding, crawling, or dezert racing. I'm going for the 2wd Camburg Race Edge FTW! ^^^^
