LED question???

Im buying my leds to mod my new foglight switch
red 3mm for the on indictor

What size resister should i use?

and
5mm 360* Blue

What resistor to use here as well
and does anyone have a close up picture of how you mounted the 5mm led into the place of the 3mm incandescent bulb

Also My taglight is burned out... Time to replace with LED so while im on Superbrightleds.com I might as well add those to my list so my shipping wont be more than my current total.

Question about that too

are these too long to fit inside the 194 housing
WLED-xHP13-T

(I wish they made these in amber so i could get them for the Corners)

Thanks for any help

3mm red LED's will probably require a 560 ohm resistor, same for the 5mm blue... at least that's what my LED's came with.

It will depend on the specific LED's you use, but you should be OK with 560 ohms or more.

Check my post for my custom LED mods, I just uploaded some new pics.

I didn't realize the newer trucks use a 194 T10 base bulb in the tails... thought they were all 3156/3157 bulbs.

I use 400 OHMs on my leds. They're all still working and I've used them maybe 300-400 hours now.

Also for those who want to buy in bulk for real cheap. This company on ebay located in Michigan, selling 100 3mm and 5mm leds of your choice in color and size for $9.95. I've already bought a few packs from them. 100x Diffused LED 4-color 3mm 5mm Blue Orange Pink etc - eBay (item 360280059758 end time Sep-09-10 00:58:51 PDT)

Duh,
I thought it said TAIL light, not TAG light.
I'm stupid.

In that case, those 3 tall SMT bulbs might be too tall, if you're talking 'bout the 2 little oval lights in the bumper.
Probably going to need some that are shorter... maybe something like THIS

You'd have to check the specs on the LED to see the voltage drop across it. Then just do some simply math with ohms law to figure out the size of resistor to use.

Resistors only limit the current when you have a constant voltage. You should be using voltage regulators for any LEDs that you truly want to protect.
