Most of the plow truck owners I've spoke to said that the Powerstrokes aren't good for a plow truck, the diesel and the added weight of the plow is a lot of weight up front.

Poor truck, front end and frame is prolly just crying for help. I'd never plow with that nice of a truck and I'd rather plow with a full size or a Jeep.

Best plow truck I ever drove was a Ranger. They are far superior in small areas to large pickups. The Only reason to have a large plow truck is if you plow parking lots in My opinion. (I plowed with my buddy Jesse who owns a Plow company for years for extra cash). My 04 level II came within Days of getting a plow put on it as I had a 6.5’ Western uni-mount off of a 95 explorer. I had the Valance off and was ready to mount it when My buddy put his 91 Explorer for sale for $800. Then that became my dedicated plow rig. I bought it with 181K miles 5 years ago and it is still going strong. I sold it to my friend in 06.

Boo on a plow rig with an automatic transmission. I hate manuals, but you gotta have one to plow. Way easier to get unstuck (because you're gonna get stuck when you plow, there is no if's and's or buts).

I plow with a crew in the winter (7 trucks) and they never get stuck they're 3/4 ton, auto, diesels. The only standard truck is the flat bed sander 4x2 and to me its just more PITA but if it was 4X4 it think it would be diffrent. IMO

I was considering getting a plow instead of a two stage snowblower they are around the same price. Meyer makes a nice one for the rangers check this thread out
It cant be much more weight then some of the custom winch bumpers ive seen. I live in the snowbelt so this would be really useful

What do you plow (parking lots, roadways, etc.), and how much snow usually?

There is no way that you could plow out here without getting stuck. I'm not saying that you suck or anything, it's just impossible. My cousin has a 78 Bronco with a Westin on it, and used to plow for the county in the big trucks, and always gets stuck plowing us out. I pulled him out several times this year. That was with 15-30 inches of snow in spots.

It's all about what you're moving, though.

Well the trucks I know have never gotten stuck since i've been with them. They are just F250s and F350s, we arent plowing out a town. Its a landscaping business doin local bids.

Here's the thing, I just got my F250. Love the truck, friggin workhorse... but you will NEVER catch me putting a plow on it. If I wanted to buy a plow truck, sorry but there are plenty of old landscape trucks out there
