Thoughts on buying Rebuilt/Salvage titled cars?
I found a ranger I like and might buy it, problem is it's rebuilt status. It's a 2009 ford ranger sport 4x4, and only has 17,000 km on it. The dealership told me it got into an accident but only the "rear box" was hit, which I'm guessing is the back of the truck or the liner? Anyways what are your thoughts on buying a rebuilt truck? Would you buy one, if so what kind of damage or precautions would you look for beforehand? Thanks!

I bought my truck as a rebuild and all is good. Just go over it really good, and usually an R title price lists at about half the book value. If you have a mechanic you trust, let them go over it with you. With a newer truck like that, it was most likely totalled due to frame damage if it was hit in the rear box so be sure to look at it for proper alignment and all that good stuff. If it was repaired properly, you can score something decent for a real good price.

Get a list of the parts replaced and see for yourself what was done.
My '88 was a Salvaged Titled Vehicle, the dealer let me see a list of the parts replaced and even told me which mechanic worked on it for more info if I wanted.
The truck lasted me for ten years, I replaced the 2.9 with a 5.0 about years five or so.
Best Ranger I had up until this 03.
