Like the title says i might be gettin another ranger. I found a guy who wants to make a trade. He wants my 89 for his 87. Their in about the same shape, body wise. Their both short bed single cab 4x4s. Im about 95% sure his is manual t-case. Their both manual trans. The only real difference is that mine had a 2.9 and his is a 2.3 lima. My motor is already donated to my brother for his 88 long bed. Im not real sure if it runs or not, but I have a newer 2.3 out of a 90 model to put in it. Is it just me or am I getting a lot better deal out of this?

 

Why would you want to scrap the 2.9 for a 2.3 Lima? Just curious.

 

Im not scrapin it. I gave it to my brother already. So id just be tradin this guy my body and fram for his whole truck.

Just curiosity, everything I've heard about the 2.9 from people that have had them, it was a good motor, and definitely had more power than the Lima. The Lima is a good motor, but not very powerful n/a, and not stellar on gas either.

 

im not tradin motors. My 2.9 is gone already, caus at the time i had no plans for the 89, so i gave it my brother for his 88. And now this guy wants to trade me his 87 for whats left of the 89.

the frame is in pretty good shape but the bodys shot to hell which is ok caus its not gonna be a dd anyway.

If it's not going to be a DD, then get it.
