Well, I might be turning in my Ranger within the next couple of months. My mom said that if my grades are good by my second report card, she would take me to go see some Crown Vics that I want. If I do end up getting another car, I'm going to look for a 01+ Crown Vic. I have some stuff planned out if I do end up getting it. My parents won't really be out any money, since we bought my truck from my brother. So we don't owe anything on it, and I already found a couple of Vics I wanna look at for $12,000.

Most of you guys on here are probably gonna laugh, but I'm going to get my brothers friend, who owns a shop, to shave my door handles and emblems, bag it, and get it painted kandy apple red. Then I'm going to get some 20" BOSS 301s.

Crown Vic's are nice cars. I had an 87 and a 96, and loved 'em both. The 87 was way more comfy, but that was also because it was a civilian Vic. My 96 was an ex police vehicle, and it had a slightly rougher ride, but I loved it.
I keep thinking of trying to get another on too.. But, I dunno. I got my heart set on a Jeep.. Maybe I'll get rid of the truck, and get another former cop car and a Jeep..

man a crown vic is what i really want, locally here you can get retired police cruisers for around $2000, but most need some work, most are 1999-2002 models too. i almost bought an 89 interceptor for $500, but i have nowhere to keep it

P71's are the Police Interceptor package on the 92+. Prior to that, it was P72. P72 for the 92+ cars are fleet vehicles.
A lot of departments will sell their cars after they hit a certain mileage. In the case of the city I used to live in, they retired them at 70,000 miles. Most of 'em are quality cars, as the city maintains 'em well.
Best advise I can offer if you're looking for an ex cop car is to shop around.

I don't know what years have the problem, I think it is just the early ones. Keep an eye out on the road for them. At about 70k or so it seems they start burning oil when the pull away from lights.

Yeah, I've seen a few of the early 90s ones that have the problem. Seems they got it corrected with the 98+ Vics though. I actually think it started dying out around 95ish, because I've seen a few 96s and 97s that had well over 100,000 on 'em and didn't burn.
Interesting though, I will definitely keep an eye out for them, for ***** and giggles.
