Before I start I already know what alot of you are going to say...that I would be stupid not to turn down this offer....however keep in mind all of the hard work, money, and effort that I have already put into my truck and how much potential it has.



ok...So my dad bought a brand new 2007 Taco, 4 door, fully loaded 4x4 etc etc. He loved it right away and "rushed" himself into buying it. Now...4 months later he absolutely hates himself for buying it. He has a really bad back and the seats are killing him...and he is in love with the new Tundra with the 5.7/ bigger better seats. He is dead set on buying the new Tundra and out of no where he says this to me yesterday. "When I buy the tundra in a few weeks, you can have my taco and we'll sell your ranger..."

My first reaction was HECK NO!!! I've spent way too much money on my truck already to just give it away like that. But after thinking about it for awhile I cant help but admit his truck is completely awesome. The engine is sweet, its 4x4, it's got potential, AND a supercharger is coming this fall.

So now I only have a few weeks to decide. All of our trucks in the family are company trucks owned by my dads company...so technically if I dont make the decison he is wanting me to, he might cancel out my requests.

Pro's of the trade: I get a new truck, it will have potential for lot of hp! and offroading.

Con's of the trade: I lose my truck(my best friend, lol)...I can't part it out(he wont let me). And I won't be on ranger-forums any more...or at least not as much.

What should I do???

 

if it were me i would keep the ranger as a project(if it was paid off) and keep the yota

 

I tried for that. I asked him if we could keep it as a show truck/project and he said no. He wants the money from my ranger to go back into the company's pocket....:(

 

Take the yota NOW. The stock power will destroy your truck and its 4 door. PLUS IT'S 4WD!!!!!!!!!!!! But I would see if you could get the yota and buy the ranger back from your dad if you have the cash flow. But if you do have to get rid of it and you want to sell me some of your aftermarket engine parts and I'll also give you my stock ones lemme know.

 

if i was in your shoes i would stick with what you have you would be starting all over with the taco and thats alot of money you would be putting into it to get it were you are now with your ranger. Plus you will never get what you have put into your ranger so by saleing it that would be like just giving the truck away. So i say keep the Ranger and not just because we are on a Ranger forum but because it just seems smart too.

 

now thats actually a good idea...but I don't have enough cash for the ranger

on the other hand, I do have enough cash to get jba headers, exhuast, complete sound system, 3 inch lift, wheels and tires....for the taco right away

so it would be modded probably the day after it was mine

I'm leaning towards the taco...but I would probably cry when I sold the ranger...Im attached to it

 

Would you be willing to get rid of the headers in your ranger and Ill replace them with some cash along with my stock ones.

Would your dad let you pay him monthly for the ranger or would it have to be a large lump sum?

Nope. I dont know what his deal is but he won't let me take anything off the truck...he says it will sell for more the way it is rather than reverting to mostly stock. Which is dumb...but whatever. I think I'm going to try and convince him to let me sell some stuff. That is if I do this....I'll let you guys know...

 

Well a few things to think of, Everyone has a taco, they are very costly to repair (and all trucks will need a repair eventually), your truck is awesome as is, so really its up to you. Personally I dislike tacos, I think they look kinda crappy and the 4x4's dont seem to have any flex room.

Get the Taco please! With the engine mods you want on it that thing will fly pluss its a toyota so its reliable. Hopefully you like the offroading look also because you could make that thing look f'n sweet. Think about it...

I love rangers, but I love the new tacomas more. Have you driven it? It will blow your mind how fast it is compared to your 3.0. I've seriously had dreams where i got a brand new tacoma as a present and woke up pissed when I realized it was just a dream.

 

get the toyota. no brainer.

 

keep the ranger. its your baby.. you will be happy for about a month maybe a little more but then be extreamly pissed about letting it go and depressed then in about 3 months you see your old ranger and some punk *** hole has trashed it.. and its like your heart got ripped out... all the time sweat passion you put into the truck is gone.. its trash nothing more.. all you want to do is get it back ....

take if from a guy that misses his buddy every time he see's it which is atleast every other week....

That's very true. I felt the same way after I traded in my Nissan Frontier after putting a lot of time in to it. But still, that tacoma is a freakin monster and I'm jealous everytime I get into my girlfriends 06.

 

still i would take it if you could keep the ranger.. but other then that no.. its like my silver truck i get mad it every once and a while but when i comes down to it.. i put a forsale sign in it last summer and people where coming and looking at it and asking and someone gave me an offer and it hit me... i cant sell it.. i doubt i will ever be able to sell it.. probably go to the grave with me... i can see it now i am 45 and its in the garage under a cover all repainted all the rust gone nice and perfect lol...

 

yeah its freaking fast...I drive it every now and then. lol, I asked If I could just have the engine and my dad was like..."keep dreaming"

We'll I have about 2 months to think about this...man this is a hard decision
