Need drivetrain help.

Howdy all.

This is a very simple question.

I have an 02 Ranger, 5-speed, FX4/SLT with just over 88K.

I'm replacing the clutch and I'm running into more issues than I need to.

Here's my biggest issue. I need to take this off (see pic below) and get the bolt out and get it sandblasted and painted. Can I just zip the bolt off or do I need to be concerned about torque and preload?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

If it were mine,I'd just heat the broken stud up,put the vicegrips to and take it out. Then use a wire wheel on a drill to clean it up and paint it right in place with a rattle can.
Unless the seal is leaking, which in the pic doesn't appear to be,why take it off?

On a side note, see the square wire plug on the left in the pic? Pull the center bolt, unplug it and coat the inside with dielectric grease.

No preload on that, there is a torque value for reinstall though..get the nut off, and pull the flange, though I'm sure it's rusted on pretty good...slide hammer will help....do the seal while you are at it.

Ok thanks. Awesome.

I can pull that flange off no problem. I have all the tools I need except a torch. That would pull that stud right out.

About the square connector: Noted.

I do intend to replace the seal while I'm at it.

Just need to know the torque spec for that nut.

Anyone?
