New member. Hello!
New member. Hello!
What’s up?! I have a 1991 Ranger XLT 2.3 2wd and I’ve been thinking about installing an AC system as there is a spot for a compressor on the block (plus it would be nice to have Ac lol). What information do I need in order to locate the proper parts? I plan on collecting things I need from the junk yard and probably buying new switches if I have to. I’m currently doing research on what all I need for the system itself but I want to be able to identify the correct parts for the system (and by correct parts I mean parts specific to my make and model, obviously I’ll be looking at rangers but I know that rangers range from the 2.3 inline 4 to the v6 so I’m trying to figure out what works) So if anybody has any tips or links to information that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You want the AC system from a 1989-2001 Ranger 2.3l/2.5l or Mazda B2300/B2500
You want the AC compressor bracket, Heater box on firewall with Evaporator inside, and the Condenser thats in front of the radiator
But you want the hoses from a 1995-2001 Ranger 2.3l/2.5l or Mazda B2300/B2500, these have the dual pressure switches you need for R-134a "freon"
You need a NEW Compressor, and a new receiver/dryer/expansion valve, also new filter
A used compressor is a roll of the dice, but up to you, no way to test it but to run it, and if it fails you will need to flush everything out again and replace the new receiver/dryer/expansion valve and filter, and all the "freon" you put in
You need to flush out ALL the used parts to get any debris out and then let them dry out for a few days to clear out all the moisture, moisture inside KILLS AC systems, it freezes and blocks the system
Wiring will depend on the year of the system you end up with, the control panel should be 1989-1992 to work with your 1991 slider type panel
And you need the longer fan belt
