New, Need Help..
Ok so I just got a 1988 Ranger with a 2.3L 4cyl. with 117,000 miles on it. It has a 9 inch lift and 31" tires. This thing SUCKS for power. I can hold it to the floor in 1st and pop the clutch and it all but stalls...sometimes it does. My buddy has a 3.8 from an older Mercury Capri, and I was wondering if I could put it in my truck. Would it bolt up to the stock 4cyl. 5 speed tranny? Because he doesnt have the tranny...so would my tranny with this 3.8 work? Also will I need to get the computer from the 3.8 too? I need help bad. Thanks alot guys!
not to be a jerk, but i laugh at people (not at you, ray, you bought the truck like this) when they say they have a 2.3, 2.8, or a 2.9 with a lift and mudders and have stock gearing. now, this may seem harsh, but why don't more people upgrade the gearing first, then do the lift and tires?
the install side of the mod. not many people know how to do them, so a DIY easy way out is not usually an option. and most people dont think they need gears until they feel the loss in the performance in their vehicle.
ok well i put my 17 inch wheels from my mustang on it, lmfao its so funny looking...so i have enough power now, but its overheating. Yesterday when it overheated I checked the oil and it was down a good bit so i added a quart...let it run a while and the oil light came on again. Checked it and it was fine...so wtf? And the overheating thing I have no clue why its doing that.. it builds up pressure because it will spray when you undo the pressure cap while its running and its circulating but it wont stop overheating. it doesnt do it at idle only when you run it. HELPP!!!!
