Night from hell.....Truck dead *long story*

So I leave tonight at around 10pm to head back to Gainesville. Im on the road battery light still on, I'm talking to me friend on the phone when I see the ABS light come on. Oh $hit what now, but I keep going thinking that if I make it to Gainesville I can take it to Santa Fe Ford so they can fix it. Still crusing along when the brake light comes on! What the hell!! My friend tells me to turn around and head back home, by now the radio is flickering on and off, the headlights are dim and I know I'm doomed .

So I turn around and head home, 5 miles down the road engine light turns on, the dash goes dim, the trip meter isn't recording miles and the gas guage reads empty (which trips the gas light on) eventhough the tank is full. 10 miles down the road truck is still on but no matter what gear I put it in there is no go. Sputter sputter die

So I'm on the side of the road on Hwy 27 southbound with no landmarks all I know is I'm south of Hwy 50 and north of 192 there is nothing but darkness around .

I Call Ford roadside and they want a better location so they want me to call 911 to see is they can pinpoint my location thru my cell, that's a no go , but now lake county deputies and clermont PD are looking for me on te side of the road . Ok so a deputy finds me and hangs out with me for a while since my flashers weren't working right. The tow truck passes us by thinking it was a routine traffic stop!!!

Well the deputy had to leave on a call, but 5 mins later the tow truck finally arrives and hooks the truck up from the back (front tires on the ground) and off we go. Not too bad right?? WRONG! We are sitting at a red light waiting to turn left. The light turns green we start to go, but what is that *BOOM* Oh Look My Truck is not on the lift anymore WTF?!?!

Somehow the damn truck fell off the lift, the chain pulled my bumper up, the fiberglass bed is cracked on passenger side, the mudflap is slightly torn off and the passenger side wheel cover is broken. Oh man what a f@ck!ng night. :

Sorry about the long post just needed to rant!!!

*Edit* Oh yea I'm sure it is the alternator and knowing this Ford it wont be under warranty

that really REALLY sucks... i seriously doubt you will have to pay anything to fix the body damage since that was the wrecker driver's fault... and the alternator should be covered under warranty

Oh that SUCKS big time. I know you'll be in contact with the tow company as they must fix your truck for the damage. That wasn't your fault. Ouch. Hope everything works out, Ty.

Wow Ty, that does sound like a night from hell. Hope everything gets fixed up without too much expense for you. Sounds like you were up around my area. You can always give me a holler if something like that happens. Hopefully, you still have my number.

Sounds like the alternator either shorted or the belt was slipping around it's pulley. Either way, just hose the thing out, and don't tell them you went muddin.

Phil the truck is at my house Im trying to clean of the engine by too much mud in there and my stepdad is charging the battery to see if I can limp it into the dealership.

George I was in Lake county when I broke down and I never had your number :( and Im sure the alt is fryed.

Q if she is fixed by easter weekend I'll go to river ranch but I doubt I'll go in the mud, I can have the guys spray my truck like we did Jesse's

*Edit*
Ok so I hosed down all the mud from the under carriage while my step-dad hosed down the engine bay and blowdryed it then used compressed air in all the lil crevices. We charged the battery and she cranked up but idled at 3500 rpms ! Now we are calling part stores in case Ford wont cover it under warrenty so that we can just buy the part and my dad can fix it, but discount auto said they don't have any for 2004 Rangers cuz they are too new. So my question is wouldn't the alternator from an 01-03 Ranger work?

Damn Ty, sucks about your truck. The alternator should be the same as later models. I doubt the power requirements have changed from past years. Depending on how the alternator died you may have to replace the battery as well.

A day of mudding in lakeland = $10
Damages from truck falling off the tow truck = $1336.08
Not having to pay for any of the repairs = Priceless

Ford changed out the alternator under warranty
The tow company (American Auto Repair Center) is going to fix the bed and bumper themselves and get a new wheel cover and center cap. I'm kinda suspicious though because they refused to give me any tag, insurance info on the tow truck.
