My Christmas Stuck (kinda long story)

Not really planned for the day, But I did get the family out doing somthing together.(lol) So here goes the story.

I had just dropped the girlfriend off at her house and was coming home when I just had to hit the lake with all the new snow that had fallen. I drove out and down the side of the lake and stopped to take a few pics. Big mistake, I tried to get going again and the sticky snow just got polished under my tires as I tried to go forward. I rolled back a ways till I started slipping and then tried to blast forward only to dig my front right tire into the drift of snow/edge of ice. It was a pretty lame stuck, but the snow was very slick once you started spining and my front tire was basically through the ice and bringing up water and mud. Of course I didn't have **** for a shovel and I was way to far away from any logs I could use under the tires. So I got to make the call to my dad on Christmas morning at about 8:30-9am and ask him to bring the truck to the lake and pull me out. He shows up and gets out on the lake a bit and stops, starts walking over and yells "no way this f*cking truck is going to make it on the ice it will go through" I told him to stick to the shorline where its basically just mud for 100ft out or so. That way its frozen solid to the ground and should be no problem. So he backs up to turn and come down the edge of the lake and his back end gets stuck in teh soft spot on the edge of the lake. So now hes pretty happy and I gota try and give my mom a call and tell her to bring the suburban. I bring over all my tow straps and we wait by his truck till she gets there. The my Dad noticed a guy walking up behind us and it was a Sheriff with another pulling up. Right away the guy was steamn, and asked wtf I was trying to do. I told him I can drive on the lake and get stuck all I want no crime in that. He had thought I fell through the ice or something and asked me "Are you f*cking stupid, what were you thinking". That of course made me want to just flip out on the dude but I kept my cool for the most part. I gave him the business about how the lake is just mud and that the snow isn't that deep and I just shouldnt have stopped and I would have been fine. He was threating me that a tow was on the way and if he can stick me with fines he'll try. I told him that was a terrible idea and that the tow will get stuck and he can't winch me from that far or through the cattails for that matter cause its destroying vegetation. He paused for a bit and said fine I'll cancel the tow but If you are not out in an hour its getn towed. Finally my mom and Sister show up in the Burban and we pull out my Dads truck which took alot of snapn and getn stuck again. Then we drove the Suburban out to my Truck and hooked it up and the Suburban got stuck just sitn in my tracks. That thing is mostly unstopable if its not getn hung up from underneath. finally he made a little strip where he could pull from and it just took like one little pull and I was out. So that made the Christmas morning one for the family books and also made for a very cold wet 2 hours or so for me.

On to the pics and I do have one crappy cell phone video my sister took of me getn pulled out.

we got a good 9" the first day then it got really warm and we got another 6" that just flattened all the snow we had and then rained for a while then got cold and froze all the crap and then another 2" of fluffy stuff. If it would have stayed cold we would have had about 20-24" easy.

Haha... nice one Andy. Haha...

What the hell is it with the cops up there? Good lord.... he was flipping out about how you get stuck? Jebus. My mom works for the Police Department back home in WI (Hammond WI) and when I told the Police Chief what I got my ticket for during the last meet, he nearly fell over. Just thought it was stupidly ridiculous to give a ticket for that.

Oh well. Good story for sure.

yeah the sheriffs by me seem to all be on a very high horse. Yeah If I had the nice scoop shovel with me i could have gotten out myself before I sank in too far. The way the front right tire was below the ice it really wasnt going anywhere. And the rear end was way to light to help any on the greasy snow.
