Theres no way to tell. I have 10K on my truck and its already on synthetic oil. Keep in mind that these trucks came from the factory with a synthetic blend, so its not like they had 100% dino juice in there to start with.

my walmart was selling a 5qt motorcraft jug of oil for 12 bucks which was a synthetic blend. At minimum, do that. Motorcraft is a good oil.

If you go with Motorcraft synthetic blend you wont go wrong.

It won't matter if it had synthetic in it, you can put whatever you want back in it.

Just stay motorcraft, that's what the engine was built with.

Actually I have heard that if you go with synthetic long enough you cant switch back. Something about what it does to the engine.

Changing the oil is MUCH more important than what you change it with!

China-Mart sells Mobil1 Synthetic for $22, regular price. The filter isn't $8 from there either.

Anyhow. I put Mobi1 Synthetic in my 07 from the first oil change. Everything else I own gets Mobil1 Synthetic, or Castrol Syntec blend.
