Misfire monitor disabled code check engine light is on. Put a new sensor on the camshaft, eliminated check engine light for about 10 minutes. Runs fine, anyone know why this check engine light won't go off? I pulled the motor out when I got the vehicle because the heads were bad replaced that put it back together started it up everything is great except for the check engine light. I removed the cam shaft sensor and the gearing it sits on when I replaced the heads, did I put it back in wrong? And if I did why does it still run?
Here is a link that may help.

I would say that if the code appeared after you did this work the problem has to be either a defective new sensor, the sensor installed incorrectly, a pinched harness ( doubtful ) or bad electrical connector at sensor that showed up after the work.
( NEW = Never Ever Works ) what brand part and alignment tool did you use?
Did you check for excessive slop in the timing chain?
If the chain has excessive slop the Cam sensor could never get installed perfectly.
Meaning if the crank has to be a Top dead center when installing the cam sensor and the timing chain has 12 degrees slop in it the cam could not possibly be in the correct alignment to install the sensor.
My point is you have some basic diagnostic work ahead of you.

I prefer communications be done through this forum, this way others can help me help you and anyone reading this thread may benefit from advice given in this thread.
Ok. I pulled the motor and removed the gear shaft that the sensor sit's on. I spun the motor and changed the original position of cam shaft when I was working on it. Put it back together. How do get it aligned again? Truck runs great as is, just has the engine light on

The only way I know that this may get sorted out for you it for you to buy a service manual.
Use the manual to double check the sensor install procedure.
Check the timing chain to make sure it does not have excessive slop.
If the code still persist you have to use the service manual to run the pin point test for the code.
