Plastic Door Handles
Plastic Door Handles
Hello everyone,
I recently broke another door handle on my 2003 ranger and have been looking around for a replacement. I have found that there is finally a tailgate handle with an all metal construction, which I have already purchased and installed on my truck, but have not found an all metal option for exterior door handles anywhere.
Does anyone know of anywhere that I can get metal door handles for my truck?
If they do not exist, I may undertake the construction of one myself. If I am able to do so successfully and thoroughly prove them to be strong through my own usage, would anyone be interested in purchasing a set? I'm just curious to see how much interest there would be for something like this.
Just an FYI, I'm planning on making these handles by casting them using pot metal. If anyone has any better suggestions I would appreciate any input.

Funny that you are breaking them.
I had a ’98 that had a major problem with the door latching mechanism.
You had to lift the handle further up than usual and use extra force to get it the door to unlatch and those handles held up really great.
My 03 so far has been good, knock on wood.
If you finish something post it up and see what happens.

X2 and my drivers door probably gets opened 6 Times a day sometimes more.
Ive broken my drivers side handle once and the one I replaced it with has held up great. But my passenger side usually breaks at least a few times a year. There must be something wrong with the latch.
For door and tailgate metal or plastic replacement handles try: Truck Parts & Truck Accessories for Chevy, GMC, Ford & Dodge Trucks | LMCTruck.com
I broke the right side of my tailgate handle a few months ago and auto zone sells a black metal handle for a replacement but I don't think it would look good on my truck lol... I like the ones from LMC cause it looks like they would make the truck look better ill have to look in to them
This is where I got mine. The arms that attach to the handle are metal which are the ones that usually break but the ones that attach to the mount are still plastic.
