Please help

Hi all - I just got a brand new ranger 2016 3,2 XLT auto (2x4). I have a few questions, excuse how silly they may be, I'm not a car person .
1- the key is a little sticky in the ignition, it doesn't slide in and out easily . Is this normal ? Sometimes it even sticks, and I have to yank it out.
2- if you look above both the front tyres, you can see a wire , looks like an electrical wire ? Is that ok ? Normal ?
3- while idling, if you look at the fuel consumption on the computer, it shoots up to like 20l/ 100km , I thought it was the aircon, but I turned it off and nothing changes . Is this normal ?
Thank you for the help ! 😃

Welcome to the forum

You have an International Ranger, this forum is in North American where these are not sold/available, our loss.

Our Rangers were smaller and quite different than yours, they were also not made after 2012, so again, our loss.

There are english language South African international Ranger forums which will have good information about your model.

As far as your questions, 1 and 3 are generic so I will take a shot:

1. try some graphite on the key, then insert it and try pulling it out, repeat adding graphite a few times.
Graphite is a metal on metal "lubrication"

2. not sure what they would be for

3. at idle fuel economy will be bad, computer must run engine Rich or it will ping/knock and over heat, plus with speedometer at 0 the fuel is just being burned up with no movement
Best fuel economy occurs at highway speed, worst at lower speeds, idle and stop and go traffic
Which is why they list fuel economy separately as "City" and "Highway", then "Combined"

You did not mention if you purchased the truck new or second hand. Also it would be helpful to know how many miles are on the truck.
The key may be a duplicate cut key which normally doesn't work as well as a factory cut key.
If the truck is still under warranty I suggest bringing it in to the dealer to address any of your concerns.

How often do you check the air pressure in the tires?
What type of terrain do you encounter and how aggressively do you drive the truck.
Many things can effect the mileage so it is best to calculate the average mileage after a fill up.

The OP did say "brand new 2016"... I'm guessing brand new no miles. I could be wrong though
