Is it possible?
with time and money.
83-88 rangers are fused for 12v so assuming you bought a motor, harness, and ecu, and all the extra emissions parts to keep it happy, upgrade the fuel system because carb pumps wont pump enough for injected systems then why not

I was already thinking about that for my '02 thunderbolt. More like dreaming about it.
I think the best thing to do is wait a year or two and wait till someone wrecks an ecoboost vehicle. Youll probably have to buy the whole vehicle from the salvage yard to make the swap happen, Fuel system(direct injection), all the computers, both turbos, intercooler, transmission, etc.
But yeah, anythings possible.
