Power cutting out when trying to turn over

Just picked up a 93' 3.0 manual for my son. Kind of a beater, but ran very strong, and had relatively low miles. Now however, it will not start. I thought it may be the starter solenoid, so I replaced it; battery is fine. As soon as I try to turn the ignition, there is a click, and then power dies immediately. Then there is no electricity in the truck. If I disconnect/reconnect the battery, it will reset and I can do it again, but you know what they say about the definition of insanity.

Any insight would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Think I found the answer here....No power at all - Ranger-Forums - The Ultimate Ford Ranger Resource

Clean and tighten battery cables and terminals, BOTH of them
You are losing high amp draw at the positive or negative terminal, not a guess, 100% sure

If you're doing that by hand (no tools) your connection is loose and dirty.

Thanks both of you. Cut and cleaned all the cables to the battery as well as the ground. It's working now.
