A lot of suspension stuff was damaged during the incident. Was the damage to the spring the cause or a result? Without more evidence, it seems like it would be jumping to conclusions to blame one particular part.

bent U bolts
bent axle
bent driveshaft
shattered bed side

possible bad ring and pinion.

Hmm. Did this have something to do with the torque he has? Dosn't Zach have no traction bars yet? I'm jus wonderin if he gave her a lil too much juice and something fialed and jus started f'in everything up.

The added stress from 35s might have done it. I can't believe the housing itself would be damaged... I thought they were pretty tough!

a buddy of mine jumped his samuri and bent the front axle housing. obviously a size and strength differance there but it can happen. Since there was no jumping involved with this i'd say the 35"s may have had a small part in it. At least thats how it seems in my head.

It happened when I was pulling him out. You will see it in the video when I get it off the camera.

Hope everything works out for ya Zach and if there is anything you need let me know.

If traction bars were involved here I think this would not have happened but its hard to say.

was it that big of a case of wheel hop? i sure hope not, but it kinda sounds like it. I know sand and mudder style tires dont mix.

Well, just to let everyone know in spite of the bad luck that zack had on the dunes. Morph and myself had a great time. Trac bars are going to be a good investment because once I started going up hill and my m/t's tried grabbing you'd think I was in a paint mixer.Fun weekend and all I have to replace is an intake hose and a tensioner pully. Bill, hope you get that video up soon. I have some pics on my camera phone, but I dont know how to get them on the computer.

I don't think traction bars would have helped, unless he still has blocks under the chebbie springs?

I get some axle wrap on my chevy's with no blocks, 38's and 5.13 gears but not nearly enough to bend a spring 90* and bend a housing too. Ouch.

Sorry to hear about that.

i was towed from the hitch. basically the suction from the sand held the tire in place causeing the spring to bend. obviously the spring was weak or something.

i have a bunch of stuff all pulled off the truck today, axle is out, springs are out, driveshaft is out.

so far it looks to be that the bearing/seal got sand in it which caused the fluid to leak out. so we are hoping the axle isnt bent.

trouble is i need all new spring perches front and rear for the ranger they are all bent. so if anyone has part numbers or a place to get them let me know.

pic of the stuckage

picture of the bent spring

picture of it sitting in the camp grounds, you can see how tweaked it was

You need to put a strong stomach disclamer at the top of this post! Do you have any pics of what it did to the bed, bumper, valance or tailgate?
