RANGER GOING AWAY SOON???????
Photo thread on facebook with a friend of mine who is a bronco enthusiast. (matthew brewer is the one with the bronco)

2012...here I come! Ford is once again flirting with the idea of bringing back the Bronco to compete with Jeep..its like 1966 all over again. Good news for Bronco enthusiasts!
Thad Jackson
looks like the panic-ed Ford designers are looking to Toyota for inspiration. More like FJ Crusier all over again.
Jeff Brewer
seriously thad? ford has had this concept for approx 10 years. long before the new f.j. . everyone copys FORD.
Stephen G Fiddes
X2 on the FJ Cruiser comments. They need to start making light trucks and SUV's with solid axles again, and focus on functionality and durability and not looks. a great short-coming with the newer Jeeps and light trucks.
Jeff Brewer
i've seen "S" loads of panic by toyota executives all over the news lately in front of congress etc. for developing shoddy products. Ford has survived the poor economy and turned profits without taking bailout money.
Stephen G Fiddes
Ford FTW!!! Can't wait till i can get another ranger...
Thad Jackson
oh god, Jeff's fired up. this is why I don't comment much.
Jeff Brewer
ha ha ha firestorm 2010!! got em'! got em'!
Matthew Brewer
yeah, that concept pic came from about 5-6 years ago. Apparently Ford is getting rid of the Ranger and during the transition releasing a new F-100 next year. Supposedly the Bronco concept will use the same frame so we'll see what they cook up. I doubt it will be anything bulletproof. IFS handles better on road so I would be shocked if they went straight axle
Stephen G Fiddes
yeah, but they should at least offer a SFA on the model
and that surprises me that they are bringing the F100 back after such success with the ranger.
Matthew Brewer
yup me too, especially since that will result in no more 4 cyl compact trucks? That surprises me with the price of gas.
Thad Jackson
I heard that they are dropping the Ranger because the chassis won't meet the new light class pickup safety standards that go into effect in 2012. Same reason Chevy abandoned the S10 a few years back.
Stephen G Fiddes
im not too worried about the engine size going up, just means more power. But it does surprise me that they would do away with such a successful model (although, after the last 3 years its been dummed down a lot since the '01-'03 years, maybe its time to start over).
