Clutch Problems on '93 XLT
The clutch is getting harder and harder to shift on my '93 Ranger XLT extended cab (4 cyl.) Just wondering how severe this problem is and would it be worth the cost to fix. I would take it to a mechanic and it has about 169,00 on it. The reason I ask is it also needs rotars, pads etc., all around and didn't want to put all that money into it if its not worth fixing. Thanks alot!

You need to specify 2 or 4wd. although i think its safe to assume 2wd since you have a 4cyl. if you are not fixing ithe clutch yourself (and i dont recommend it if you've never done it), then you'll be looking around $400-$500 depending on parts wanted and shop labor rate. Pads and rotors- again if you take it to a shop- will probably be around $250. if you think the truck runs good, has been maintained and has a good body, then i'd say do it.

I always thought the clutch on my 93 was a little stiff, when I let my Dad try it out and when I drive other cars I realized how stiff my clutch is so I asked about that when I first bought the truck and everyone else with a similar truck said that's just the way it is on our rigs. But if it's getting stiffer and causing problems for you then I'd definately take it to get checked out.
