Amen to that! I'll never let anyone tell what I can and cannot do on my own property. We don't even need building permits in my town! Only thing you need to build a house here is septic.

I work at a shop, but its not a fab shop so i cant go shooting sparks everywhere and i cant hog up a lift.

did i say need? maybe i did.. oops.. and yes, its a 'want'
but at some point i'm going to want to put a goose neck or 5th wheel back there and haul 2 rigs at once, a half ton won't hold up for that task so well.

i can get away with damn near anything.. but turning the driveway into a salvage yard.. not so much

Its gonna be like a hood, fenders and a frame.. 4 seater Ranger Truggy anyone? guess i should learn how to use a bender more efficiently

If Zach does it, I guess it's cool. haha

nah, I was still thinking something way different...along the lines of a sand rail, or something that (in my head) looked way different than that or Zach's...

no hard feelings man.

I always thought you were wanting to turn it into something like in the pictures below. To do something like the picture you posted wouldn't it be easier to just buy a frame, motor, and trans? Rather then having to strip your truck and get the motor running right without a cab and all, you would already have something half way ready for tube.

too bad that thing doesn't get wheeled.. The cab's gonna get trashed in a setup like that too..

If i do a V8 i'm gonna have to figure out all the wiring and get it running correctly anyways..

I just got in on the tail end of this, but I hope you do decide to keep the Ranger, if you have already decided to great! If not, then I hope whatever else you got up your sleeve works!

My 'wheeling' rig and Daily Driver are or was the same vehicle, my Ford. But after wheeling and coming off the mountain only to find I broke my Transfer Case Housing, I stopped that until I can afford another vehicle like some ****ty Geo. I only make 9.50 an hour at UPS right now, I can't afford **** really haha.

dude zachary! i have a small idea of how you feel about all of this... youve had your truck forever. built every single thing on it (mostly custom). put endless days hours and money into it.. and everything still doesnt work the way you want... everything keeps breaking. but you put tons of time into it and fix it up! then you wheel and have the best ever time and you love your truck.. then stuff breaks again. and you hate your truck! and you feel like you have no way out and your stuck with it.. all your other friend dont understand and get to drive around in there camrys and stock cars and trucks from point A to point B.. you kind of envy them but you love your truck!

ive felt like this before and wanted to get rid of mine... just say screw it and start over! its so painful and it makes me feel sick sometimes...

right now im battleing the SAS. about finished but im stressin about the little details,,,
anyways,,

have you ever looked at the older VW golfs or golf sports??
you can get em for around 2-3 grand... they have 2.0 four bangers.. they can go pretty quick with a chip and an intake but will still get you 35 mpg! and they are cheap!!

just puttin out ideas!

Right now my priority is getting a new truck.. Then i need to find somewhere to store the ranger/trailer which won't be too hard.

but finding somewhere to work on it is going to be tricky. I can find Jeeps with SBC's and one tons all day long for dirt cheap, i don't really want a jeep.. but at the same time I kinda do.

I wonder how much i could sell it for if i did the head gasket.. or if i should just part it out and drop it off at the scrap yard.

i made the mistake of taking my saturn to the scrap yard. $68. What a tragedy. Luckily the inlaws took the tires which was worth $400. I kept enough stuff to sell another $500 off of it. Bored throttle body, lowering springs, disc brake conversion, billet grill.

I could have used yous for a parts truck a month ago. I bought a bunch of little stuff that added up. Flywheel, tranny bolts, starter bolts, starter, revers light sensor, sppedo, sensor. I bet I laid down $500 in misc crap.
