I've seen that truck before... it's a monster for sure!

Portals are a little different than mog axles. The portals have a gear reduction box at each hub as well as gear reduction in the differential, giving you extra low gearing and also putting the wheel hubs a few inches below the axle tube, giving you better ground clearance underneath the axle.

Actually, on second look, those might be portal axles... I can't quite tell.

Unimog axles are portals. The 7.56 ratio is a combination of a 4 something pig and 1.5+something reduction gears. I used to have all this crap memorized. I guess I really am getting old (and I'm only 27!) Gee, my memory is going, going, gone...

Stazworks has a killer ranger on custom fabricated high pinion hybrid portals. 9" chunk flipped to make a high pinion, fabricated housing, arb air lockers, fabricated knuckles, with hummer portal ends mounted and functional ctis system. They sell the axles but they are nearly 5 grand a kick EEEK!

*DROOL* those are beyond sweet. And I thought my 8.8 31 spline was impressive. 5 grand an axle is a tad bit out of my price range these days, but maybe if I hit the lottery I could get those (and some of those MatTracks while I'm dreaming...Oh and while I'm wishing for things could someone drop off a M1A1 Abrams?)

Wicked awesome. Those tires should be right at 41's, I think.
