Rangers out the a**, what next?
Thought I'd post a few pics and offer some options and see if I come up with any suggestions. It started when I purchased my 94. I was looking for an automatic ranger at the time but couldn't pass it up for the price, Its a 4.0/5 speed. She ran good but had a couple issues. The bed was bad, had rust on both sides and a big dent. The spring hangers needed replaced and a front axle ujoint was bad. She;s all repaired and running great in spite of the 168,000 miles the original owner logged. A testament to regular service and amsoil products in my opinion.
Next is my black 99 with a 3.0/auto ff motor. I figured a 2wd drive would get better mileage and I was still looking for an automatic. This truck is loaded with electric and power as well as a texas body so when it came up cheap I had to but it. The previous owner had done alot of service on it but now it needs some issues straightened out. One may be a bad trans but I just chaged the filter and the verdict is still out.
I'm thinking I can bolt the 4wd trans and axles under the 99 when I purchase the 98(rolled parts truck. Wrong! I could swap out the body but the problem is the motor is siezed and its a 4.0. In other words I have a couple square pegs that won't fit the round holes.
I am going to use some minor parts off the 98 on the 99 for sure but if I go thru the work of swaping bodies I still don't know what other issues will arise after I replace the 4.0 on the 98 4wd chassis. Like Fuel pump, brakes, electrical issues...
Any suggestions out there. I am thinking of parting the 98 and fixing the issues in the 99 and selling the 94.
