Rusting fuel rail..... rehab plan unless someone knows of new source
Below are pics from the fuel rail removed from my 2003 2.3L ranger (250K). At least at first look I can't find a new replacement part, and am thinking of spending some time fighting rust before I reinstall this one. Does anyone have a better plan?
I was just going to clean this up with simple green and a tooth brush, then lightly sand the rust and toss the whole thing in an electrolysis tank before spray priming and painting. I will neither sand nor paint in the various ports, just on the outside. Any suggestions welcome. thanks folks

My suggestion is very simple. If you really can't find a good fuel rail. Rock Auto/Napa/Autozone/Junkyard/car-part etc. Then simply install an aftermarket one. You should find a few "performance" fuel rail that will bolt up. Don't let Performance fuel rail scare you though. Its not like you're changing injectors etc. And don't get excited for crazy gains either.
This is my very unprofessional opinion do your own research!
The two most common generic types are slightly bigger or stronger rated. Shouldn't be an issue with either as your regulator and fuel pump are whats working. Its just a shiny pipe for your faucet essentially. Doesnt matter if its a little bigger or made of titanium
That said. Yours doesn't look bad to me. Unless its leaking or you have reason to believe the rust is more than just surface rust. Think id use it. Maybe skip the electrolysis etc. Wet sand spray some tanic acid (rust converter) then paint with high temp paint (VHT). This is my very unprofessional opinion do your own research!
