Need help with 2003 Ford Ranger 4x4 M5OD-R1HD Transmission output seal replacement!!
Need help with 2003 Ford Ranger 4x4 M5OD-R1HD Transmission output seal replacement!! I have transmission fluid/ & or transfer case fluid leaking out of the extension housing where it meets the transfer case. I plan on ordering a new output seal of the transmission and a new input seal for the transfer case. Do I need to pull the transmission to do the seal on it? If anyone could give me a step by step how to I would greatly appreciate it. I haven’t been able to find any how to videos or forums on this at all and I’d really like to get it fixed!

I don't have step by step instruction, but I can tell you the rear seal is in the extension housing and I am pretty sure you can remove that without pulling the transmission. That seal looks pretty accessible and should not be difficult to replace once the extension housing is removed from the transmission.
As I recall, the transfer case must be taken apart to replace the input shaft seal. That is not a big deal but the big nut the rear out put yoke is torqued very high and is not easy to get off. Once you split the transfer case, it is a good idea to al least replace the rear output seal and the nut seal.
