shift ****

I have a 2004 manual tranny ranger and i cant get my shift **** off are there any tricks i need to know or is mine just being a ***** to screw off.

it has splines it has to pull off.. you need it to get hot.. then pull really really hard, then maybe it will come off, or break it..

^^What Zach said. They don't screw off. They are mounted to splines, so up and down grooves, and attached using some crazy bad *** glue. some people actually came off on them while shifting in the summertime. lol. What are you trying to accomplish? put on a ricer shift ****?

Don't knock yourself out when you are pulling really hard....seen that done a time or two.

in my '96 ranger i held the sifter lever and hit the top of the **** with a hammer to break the glue loose.

hurst chrome shifter with pistol grip!!!!! next mod after gauge cluster. muhaha....

im trying to get mine off so i can put on an 8 ball shift ****. so if you get it off what does it look like. is there a little point that the 8 ball shifter will fit over hopefully

Not sure what the connector is on yours but the ones I've seen needed to be drilled out a little more then used epoxy to hold it on the shifter.

I did that after I bought my 2000. The damn thing kept coming off when I shifted gears It came with screws, but I ended up gorilla glueing it on. The 8 ball **** was kinda cool though, the hurst was even better.

i dont really have any tips for getting it off other then just pulling really hard but ive been drilling holes into pool ***** for a while for my buddies just did a 1 ball for my buddy in a yellow ranger and an 8 ball not to long ago for my truck since its black :P but most of my buddys just get them to match the car pretty easy drill a hole fill it with epoxy put it on and never get it off.
